New video is now online on our youtube channel! Watch it at this link or below! The wings of large civil passenger aircrafts are highly flexible structures, that house the fuel tanks but can be deformed significantly when atmospheric turbulence or gust is encountered. The video presents a very interesting Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) simulation of the violent free-surface motion in a partially filled rectangular tank subject time-varying vertical acceleration, such as those caused by gust and atmospheric turbulence acting on civil aircraft wings (courtesy of CNR-INM).
Enjoy watching!
